Return to This Moment

MINDFUL MONDAY
Attention has a way of drifting. A conversation from earlier returns to the mind. A future task pulls us forward. Before long, we find ourselves living in places that are not actually here.
This Mindful Monday practice is a gentle way to interrupt that pattern.
Take advantage of the tech we have available to us now. Set a small alarm or reminder on your phone with a simple question: Am I present right now? When the notification appears, pause for a moment and take a slow, steady breath. Notice where your attention had been and allow it to settle back into the present.
Nothing dramatic needs to happen in that moment. The purpose is simply to return.
Over time, these small check-ins begin to change how we move through the day. Instead of being carried along by constant thought, we learn to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the steadiness of the moment we are actually living.
Within the OCA movement, practices like this remind us that awareness is not something reserved for quiet retreats or special occasions. It grows through ordinary pauses — through moments when we choose to come back to ourselves.
And each return, however brief, strengthens our ability to live with greater purpose and presence.
